Edith Heath (1911–2005) founded Heath Ceramics in 1948. She was a talented ceramicist with a great respect for craft and material, and a strong point of view on the product that her company would make — simple, good things for good people.
Edith’s passion for ceramics led to advances in clay and glaze development, which secured Heath its unique place in ceramics history. Her pieces were designed to enjoy a single kiln firing, at a lower than normal temperature, thus saving energy, while remarkably producing a durable and non-porous product. This Great Depression mentality motivated her to design and produced long-lasting products with integrity, in a responsible manner.
Today, over sixty years later, Heath Ceramics is considered among the most enduring examples of mid-century design. Our iconic tableware and tile are still made in small runs on the premises of our Sausalito, California factory, just as they have been since 1948.
Born out of frustration for the lack of fashion-forward prints and inspired cuts, Gabby Sabharwal designed and produced a mix-and-match collection of custom swimsuits to fit her personal style of effortlessly combining prints, colors and patterns. Knowing she wasn’t alone, Gabby immersed herself in the world around her gathering feedback from friends about their ideal swimsuit shapes and then looked to her closet for inspiration to artfully match bold patterns. The result—interchangeable and multi-functional swim separates featuring versatile prints and figure-flattering silhouettes that can be mixed and matched for a unique look.
giejo is proudly made in the USA. We support sustainable fashion by utilizing vintage and reclaimed textiles in our limited-edition designs. All materials are sourced locally in New York City’s Garment District and produced just across the Hudson River in New Jersey.
Fragrances in southern France or a colorful market in Marrakesh may offer inspiration, but every one of our scented candles is poured at the Illume factory in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We couldn’t imagine them being made anywhere else.
When it comes to candle making, you could call us perfectionists or a bit type-A. We are compulsive when it comes to finessing fragrance and marrying it to the ideal wax. Don’t even get us going about straightening wicks or the purity of paraffin.
It’s about maintaining quality every step of the way ensuring an Illume candle burns beautifully from first light to last flicker.
